So Ruby & I love taking pictures! But we don't claim to be experts or anything. In fact, we'll admit we don't really even know how to use the basic functions of our cameras! We pretty much just point and shoot. Which is why we've decided we need to have a photo workshop for super baby beginners, like us! Snap It Pretty: Learning the basics of your DSLR so you can snap away at all the pretty things in life.

Who it is for: A DSLR owner who wants to learn the basics of how to use their camera in manual mode. If you basically use your DSLR as a point and shoot, then this class is for you! We'll go over things like the shutter speed, ISO, focus, depth of field, and more!

Who it isn't for: Those who already know how to use their camera in manual because if you do, this class will bore you. Maybe we will have something for you next time!

When: Saturday July 23, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Cost: $145

Where: Fullerton, California (Location will be emailed to attendees)

What will be provided: lunch, goodie bags, and the basic knowledge of how to use your DSLR from a professional photographer.

DIY # 4 / Mini Succulent Garden!

Succulents are always in style. Here's a mini succulent garden, with bunting! This is a fun inexpensive summer afternoon project, and would make a cute gift for a friend.

Here's what you need:

- Cupcake liners
- Scissors
- Small Metal Loaf pan (Found mine at a thrift store for .75 cents!)
- Small Succulents (got mine at the local swap meet, for $1 each)
- Twine
- Potting Soil
- Wood skewer sticks


We'll start with the cupcake bunting. So take a cupcake liner and bunch it together.


Poke a hole through - be careful not to hurt yourself on this step!


String twine through the cupcake liner. I placed a piece of tape on the end of the twine, so it could thread through easier.


Continue until your garland is long enough for your pan.



Now tie onto the Skewer sticks and your cupcake garland is all done!


Next, place potting soil into your loaf pan. I filled it up about half way to leave room for the succulent.



Remove succulents and place them in loaf pan.



Fill the remaining part with more soil.


Place cupcake garland in pan and you're done! Now for a finishing touch.

Print out a summer graphic, I used sticker paper so it would stick together when wrapped around. But you can easily use a sheet of paper and just glue it. Cut out and wrap around another skewer stick. Trim down to desired size.

and you have a cute little flag for your garden!

DIY # 3 / Messages in a bottle!

I love messages! Especially tiny message notes! I thought this would be something fun to make for a friend going out of town, or a loved one to have while away. Here's a fun little diy for your summer crafting afternoon!

Here's what you need:

- Papers
- Bottle
- Twine
- Jewelry rings
- Label paper
- Scissors
- Small Box to wrap bottle

First, cut strips of paper. I used vintage wallpapers and floral/map prints. I hand wrote some messages, and typed some with a typewriter.

Roll up your little note, then place jewelry ring around the note!


You can write however many notes you want that person to have.



Now place the notes in bottle.



Print out a label for the bottle. You can write whatever message you'd like on the label. Then place label on bottle.


Wrap the twine around your bottle. This is optional, I just added it for decoration :)




Place some tissue paper in your gift box and place message bottle in box.


I also printed a wrap around label out. Place label on box and tie with twine!



A fun little gift idea, any recipient would be lucky to receive!
